Dehumidifier Timber Dryer - DUO MODE HEAT PUMP DEHUMIDIFIER
Our new generation Duo-Mode Dehumidifier has an energy saving concept.
Instead of using one low-pressure-side heat exchanger for both dehumidification and heating mode, we use a second set low-pressure-side heat exchanger just for the heating mode. Air from the outside is used heat up the very cold refrigerant as it expands through the expansion valve. The cooled air is then released outside the dryer.
If only one low pressure side exchanger is used, during the heating mode, the returning hot air will still be cooled by this heat exchanger before being heated up by the high-pressure-side heat exchanger.
When the 2nd set of low-pressure side heat exchanger is used during the heating mode, the returning hot air passing through the in-activated 1st heat exchanger will not be cooled. No heat is lost, resulting in higher drying temperature as the air is heated up by the high-pressure-side heat exchanger.
The Duo-Mode Dehumidifier is very easy to install. There is an opening at the rear of the dryer wall, just push the Dehumidifier against the wall opening from outside. Align them together and then connect the outlet air duct from the top of the unit into the dryer room.
Depending on the width of the dryer, several circulation fans will be needed. There should be a sub-ceiling below the fans for better airflow control. A drain pipe needs to be connected to the condensed water drain pan to release the water to the outside.
The air coming out of the 2nd low-pressure-side evaporator blower can be re-directed into an office for cooling.
The dehumidifier is good for drying timbers that are heat sensitive. At low temperatures, the dehumidifier can achieve lower humidity better than conventional dryers. In conventional drying, temperature has to be raised substantially in order to achieve low humidity. For heat sensitive timbers, such as Acacia and Eucalyptus species, the timber cells will close up when heat is above 50C. The moisture will be locked inside, making drying extremely difficult. This is the reason why some timber takes a very long time to dry in conventional dryers as the high heat causes the wood to case-harden.
Our Dual-Mode Dehumidifiers are sold to world class wooden furniture and door manufacturers for curing their water based coatings. Low temperature drying is required for water based coatings. .
